Our organic linen blackout curtain contains no plastic, no elastic, no latex, no PVC, no polyester, no acrylic, no vinyl, no off-gassing from VOC chemicals, no chemical treatments, no forever chemicals, no fire retardants; in fact, no synthetics whatsoever. We started making this unique organic linen blackout curtain in 1997 and it has since consistently been a favorite with our customers who are concerned about potential dangers of volatile organic chemicals (VOC) that come from off-gassing PVC and other chemically treated synthetic materials in curtains and other textiles in their home. Our organic linen and cotton are processed traditionally and naturally in Europe under strict regulations, without acids or toxic chemicals. The linen is unbleached and undyed; the organic cotton is unbleached and dyed with eco biodegradable dyes from Switzerland. Dry clean only. Or steam clean to disinfect and sanitize (be sure to keep moisture to a minimum as color transfer from the biodegradable dye in the dark brown organic cotton layer may transfer). Some sizes have a French seam in the fabric: some of the 48” on the organic linen side; & the 72” organic cotton side - French seam shown in photos 7, 8 and 9. This is so we do not waste huge amounts of fabric in production. The curtain can also be hung on long side for more size options (using clips).

Color: The organic linen layer is dye-free natural; the organic cotton is brown (organic biodegradable eco dye).

We have recently modified the top portion of the curtain in response to comments about light passing readily through the top when hung on rings. We’ve added a second hole to create a choice how to hang it - either in the exact same way as before, with the rings only using the top hole; or in a new way using both holes which hangs the curtain higher and blocks light where it is hung at the rod. To hang it lower, please simply change the rings to go through only the top hole, which makes the rod visible from the inside of the room above the top edge of the curtain. To choose this design, please select ‘With Rings (V2)’.

Perfect blackout curtains - no off-gassing!

We got one for each window in the bedroom which faces East. We needed to get our eight hours sleep and these blackout curtains are perfect. They happen to be the only ones on the market too so we lucked out in finding them after what seemed like a forever search. The linen side looks very elegant and that’s the side we use in the room, with the brown side facing out. But since it’s reversible, you can use either side. So happy with these. The fact that there were no chemicals use, no plastic and no pvc is everything to us.

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly.

This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
