Most people don’t realize that polyester is plastic. It’s everywhere around us: in clothing, socks, underwear, bras, jackets, coats, hats. Polyester and other synthetic fibers are melted plastic that are woven into strands and function like cotton. However, it sheds microplastics as it’s being worn and washed. And these microplastics somehow find their way inside our bodies. Worse, most clothing are treated with forever chemicals and toxic dyes, which leach onto our skin and get absorbed into our bodies, potentially wreaking havoc on our hormone systems.Â
