Our GOTS certified organic merino socks retain all the legendary qualities of this special yarn: naturally anti-bacterial and anti-odor. These organic merino wool socks are 100% biodegradable: no polyester, no forever chemicals. Do not put these special organic merino socks in the dryer; wash as infrequently as possible. (Complete care instructions are further down this page.) Our untreated certified organic merino retains all the legendary qualities of this special yarn: naturally anti-bacterial and anti-odor. These organic merino socks are naturally stretchy but non-confining (they don't cut off your circulation like regular socks with elastic do). Our organic merino socks are made in-house and finished by hand at Rawganique Atelier in Europe, sweatshop-free, from premium certified organic merino yarns from France and Italy - the organic merino wool yarns are also certified by Woolmark. Natural organic merino socks without polyester may not be as tough as synthetic socks, so be gentle on them.
Organic Merino Wool Socks
We created our unique organic merino socks for people who need and want plastic-free, completely natural organic wool socks to wear. No polyamide, no nylon, no spandex, no chemical treatments, no forever chemicals, no nasties. You have to take care of these special organic merino socks because truly natural socks will wear out if you are hard on them. If holes develop, you will have to mend them like folks used to do before cheap throwaway fashion culture, chemicals and synthetics came along. There are lots of good videos on YouTube how to mend socks (holes from wear-and-tear in truly natural socks are not defects but are part and parcel (and charm) of truly natural products; synthetics and plastics, on the other hand, may last forever, literally, to the detriment of the planet.
Our organic merino wool socks allow free circulation in your legs and feet and do not compress and cut off circulation the way conventional socks do.
As well as elastic-free socks, we also offer many styles of organic socks with biodegradable organic elastic as well as regular elastic. It is extremely hard, almost impossible, to make plastic-free organic merino wool socks today, with modern machines, which are designed specifically for high-speed mass production that requires synthetics to operate. That's why we have to finish knitting our organic merino socks by hand, especially at the seams; this slows down production and adds greatly to the cost, but for a good cause, because so many of our customers are allergic or averse to polyester and really need truly natural socks to wear. We do not use forever chemicals to shrinkage-proof or to alter or modify the truly natural organic merino fibers in anyway; in fact, we do not use forever chemicals in any product we make, period.
Please read before buying: Do not put these special socks in the dryer. If you must use a dryer, please choose one of our organic cotton with elastic instead. Merino will shrink in the high dry heat of the dryer. Shrinkage is not a claimable defect (we do not use forever chemicals to shrinkage-proof our products). By purchasing these unique merino socks, you agree to not use the dryer. Wash on gentle cycle in a laundry mesh bag (or by hand) with lukewarm water and mild biodegradable detergent and lay flat to dry. LUKEWARM water is best, not super tap cold, not warm, not hot; product may shrink or become felted at hot temperatures. Wash as infrequently as possible. Also, pure merino wool socks, by their nature, cannot be as durable as wool socks with 30-40% spandex, polyamide, elastane and/or other synthetics (that's why all the other manufacturers put so much synthetics into their socks); we make these special organic merino socks for people who need and want truly synthetic-free socks. If you want more durable socks, choose one of our other socks with elastic.
Our certified organic merino wool socks are perfect for the plastic-free lifestyle, as well as for anyone with allergies to latex, polyester and synthetic fibers.
Customers have been loving our 100% organic merino socks and that makes us SO HAPPY. Thank you truly and kindly for all your love, constructive feedback and kind encouragement as we set out to do what most of the garment industry won't do: make truly natural plastic-free products that are 100% biodegradable (it's not easy in this day and age to do this). Here are a couple of reviews that we love (on top of all the ecstatic feedback we have received by emails and texts and DMs). Thank you for taking the time to let us know so that we can continue to make these special and unique organic merino socks available.
"TERRIFIC SOCKS! The HARTFORD and the GLACIERS are the best socks I've ever worn. They are incredibly comfortable and my feet don't sweat in them. I love how soft they are; it almost feels like I'm not wearing socks. They don't bind my legs or irritate my sensitive skin, both of which are a great relief from synthetic blends. Both types of socks keep my feet warm in the colder weather but the GLACIERS are needed for the very cold temperatures. I love the wide toe box which lets my feet relax. I'm so glad you're selling these! Thank you!"
"all wool socks It's very hard to find socks without synthetics and I'm happy this company exists. My issue isn't so much a health concern with latex or nylon etc, it's that the synthetics create a clammy feel, so much so that I can't wear most shoes for long without discomfort. High quality all leather shoes and boots are the exception, and pairing them will all wool socks can't be beat."

Returns Policy
Due to the special and unique nature of our plastic-free organic natural products, which have not gone through a chemical or perfume process, there are restrictions on certain categories of returns. Please read before purchasing from us.
A majority of our customers are chemically sensitive and/or highly averse to chemicals, scents and perfumes which may potentially cause severe allergic reactions. Therefore, any products that come into contact with intimate parts and skin are not returnable as we aren’t able to resell them. When customers buy non-returnable items from us, we send them brand new products that have always been in our custody and have not been tried on or been in the possession of other customers.
For bedding, we recommend that customers buy a pillowcase to try out and see if it works for them; we also sell bedding, pillow and comforter samples and swatch books.
We thank you for your understanding and respecting our small scale. We are a small-batch independent producer by choice so that we can offer the purest products available.
Non-returnable items (sorry, we aren’t able to make exceptions, due to hygiene reasons): * Intimate wear (underwear, TINA Bra, ALYSSA Bra and other bras, modesty pads, menstrual pads, socks). We are happy to consult about sizing by email. If you need to return underwear, we recommend that you buy from other merchants that accept returns on underwear. * Bedding and Bath items (bedsheets, towels, pillows, comforters, toppers, mattresses) * Absolutely any items that have been used, washed, stained, scented or contaminated by perfume. * Any marked down, closeout or final sale items.
Items that are returnable must be returned in new original condition within 30 days of receipt. To start a return, sign in to your customer account within 30 days of receipt and submit a return request from your order history.
To exchange an item, please return it per the instructions and conditions below and include a note with what you would like instead. There is a 5% restocking fee on returns, but not on exchanges for a different size or color of the same product.
Most products are returnable in original new condition (unworn, unscented, unwashed) within 30 days of receipt for refund.
Cut fabrics, bedding items (pillows, comforters, toppers, mattresses, sleeping bags), as well as intimate wear (including underwear, modesty pads, TINA Bra, ALYSSA Bra), socks, mouth masks, and anything washed, worn, scented or soiled, for hygiene and in consideration to chemically sensitive customers, are absolutely not returnable. By ordering online the customer accepts that the seller alone determines whether a return is in acceptable condition.
If you are unsure, please order a single item, pillow case, a wash cloth, etc. to try out before ordering larger sizes or multiples; as well, we have sample sizes available to order on the pillows and mattresses pages. Closeout - Final Sale items are marked as such on the product pages, and are also non-returnable (but they can be exchanged in strictly new condition for a different size or color of the same item).
Shipping is non-refundable; we do not provide prepaid return shipping labels. If you return items for exchange for a different size or color of the same style, we will ship the exchange out without extra charge (within the 48 contiguous US states only).
