Our #2 bestseller in elastic-free organic merino socks. Our customers love that these 100% organic merino wools are so soft and naturally stretchy, anti-bacterial & anti-odor, and these socks just feel so good on the skin - skin issues resulting from elastic allergy just magically disappear. No more rashes and no more welts from elastic compression! We recommend these special organic merino wool socks for light everyday wearing and sleeping; otherwise our 3-ply organic merino socks are more hugging. 2-ply is stretchier than 3-ply, which is more snug (like the Mountainville 3-ply organic merino socks in the same style. The most amazing thing about these truly pure 100% organic merino socks is that they are 100% biodegradable; that means no elastane, no polyester, no spandex, no lycra, no polyamide, no chemical treatments, no forever chemicals, no nylon, and no synthetics of any kind whatsoever. These merino socks come from Nature and go back 100% to Nature when done. We knit these special organic merino socks by hand at the seams at our workshop in Europe from premium certified organic French and Italian merino yarns; it's a labor-intensive, sweatshop-free and time-consuming method but it's really the only way to achieve 100% purity. Note: Treat these special organic merino socks gently and kindly; truly natural organic merino socks won't be as tough as socks with elastic and synthetics, which may last forever while potentially doing damage to human and planetary health. If you are a destroyer of socks, please choose socks with synthetics instead. Do not put these beautiful organic merino socks in the dryer; they will shrink on you. Care
Hand wash in lukewarm water or wash in a laundry net bag on delicate cycle (LUKEWARM water is best, not super tap cold, not warm, not hot; product may shrink or become felted at hot temperatures). Gentle biodegradable detergent only. No fabric softeners, no optical brighteners, no bleach. DO NOT put product in the dryer. Lay flat to dry (for knits) or hang to dry (for woven items). Products may retract slightly after washing. Gently stretch out to shape and steam-iron at the correct fabric settings (wool for merino, linen for hemp and linen), if desired (steam will restore fabric to the soft state in which you received them). At the workshop, we pre-wash our fabrics before cutting and sewing them. Then we steam iron each product. We do not use any wrinkle-proofing or anti-shrinkage or no-iron chemicals in any of our products as these forever chemicals (like PFOA and PFAS) are often toxic and harmful. Thanks again for choosing organic, sweatshop-free, and biodegradable!
Truly pure elastic-free 100% certified organic Italian and French merino wool socks, 100% synthetic-free, 100% biodegradable, naturally stretchy but not confining or circulation-constricting. 2-ply socks (ALPINEVILLE, HARTFORD) are more stretchy than 3-ply socks (MOUNTAINVILLE, GLACIERS) which are thicker and warmer. These special merino socks are made from select premium certified organic merino yarns from France and Italy. Please read before buying: Do not put these special socks in the dryer. If you must use a dryer, please choose one of our organic cotton with elastic instead. Merino will shrink in the high dry heat of the dryer. Shrinkage is not a claimable defect (we do not use forever chemicals to shrinkage-proof our products). By purchasing these unique merino socks, you agree to not use the dryer. Wash on gentle cycle in a laundry mesh bag (or by hand) with lukewarm water and mild biodegradable detergent and lay flat to dry. Wash as infrequently as possible. Also, pure merino wool socks will not be as durable as wool socks with 30-40% spandex, polyamide and elastane (that's why all the other manufacturers put so much synthetics into their socks); we make these special organic merino socks for people who need and want truly synthetics-free socks. If you want more durable socks, choose one of our socks with elastic. | These rare & unique 100% organic merino wool socks are finished by hand with organic merino yarns at the seams, a labor-intensive way to ensure that absolutely no elastic, no elastane, no Spandex, no latex, no Lycra, no nylon and no polyester is used. The premium certified organic merino yarn is sourced from France and Italy – luxuriously soft & fine and a far cry from the rough wool socks of yore.

These organic merino wool socks aren't designed for sports or extreme use; however, many customers report using them to ski in and the organic merino wool socks were fine — no odor and super cozy. Some (not all) of our plastic-free organic merino wool socks come packaged in biodegradable cellophane.
100% natural organic wool socks are generally not as long-lasting or robust as wool socks blended with polyamide, elastic and other types of synthetic fibers (that's why plastic microfiber and polyester socks are so popular). We recommend our synthetic-free 100% organic wool socks for normal everyday wearing and sleeping; our truly natural organic wool socks are created for people who are chemically sensitive, those who are averse to chemicals & synthetics and those who want to pursue a plastic-free lifestyle. Merino wool socks developing holes is NOT a claimable defect. Please take good care of your special socks and don't be rough with them; wiggle them on, don't just roughly pull them on. (Depending on usage, holes may develop over time. They can simply be mended with needle & thread, or needle felting.)
