Euro-Luxury Hemp Bath TowelsMade from organically grown European hemp. Sweatshop-free. ![]()
» How are your hemp towels different?
Organic hemp towels did not exist until we started making them in 2000. They are the world's first and only organically grown European hemp terry pile towels. As such, they are rare, unique, and very special, inspired by luxurious Irish linen pile towels of yore. You'll love our exclusive European Hemp Towels. There have since been Chinese-made hemp towels, but they may have issues with chemical processing and with human rights in terms of sweatshop conditions during production. Our heritage-quality organic hemp towels are chemical-free, sweatshop-free, and as pure and sustainable as they come. Much of the price of our hemp towels goes towards high-quality organic raw materials and sweatshop-free labor.
» What are your hemp towels like?
Very similar in look and feel to traditional Irish and Scandinavian linen pile friction towels but with a lighter color. Both are more substantial in feel than organic cotton towels, which are plusher but not as strong. Both are great as massage towels, too, helping to return vigor to the skin after a long day of work, thanks to their exfoliating qualities. » Who buys your hemp towels?
Hemp purists and eco-conscious folks the world over who seek purity and sustainability in their lives. Also, chemically-sensitive people and people who suffer from severe skin allergies. In fact, many dermatologists have been recommending our pure hemp towels to their clients for years. Prestigious eco-friendly spas, salons, retreats, resorts, restaurants, and hotels around the world also get their towels from us to show their commitment to the environment. Our hemp towels have been written up and featured in many magazines such as Natural Home, newspapers, and TV programs across the globe. Passionate fans even travel with their hemp towels to retain the purity and sustainability in their lives away from home. » Detailed care instructions
Machine wash in warm water (mild biodegradable detergent) with like colors. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners (which clog natural fibers and shorten their life span), and optical brighteners (most oxygen or hydrogen-peroxide brighteners available at health food stores are OK to use). Hang or lay flat to dry. We do not recommend machine drying your new organic hemp towels as dry heat is hard on natural fibers such as hemp and flax linen and may compromise their long-term durability. However, for convenience, many customers have been machine drying their hemp and linen towels —they've reported that some linting occurred but otherwise their towels have come out fine, so we leave it up to you to decide. Hemp and flax are such strong fibers that machine drying on delicate or air dry cycle would probably be fine in the long run. And unlike conventional towels, our Organic Hemp Towels and Linen Towels get softer with each wash and cozier with each use. After 3-4 washes, the natural protective oils are removed and the hemp and linen piles begin to soften. Then you'll begin to notice their true plushness, which will surely make them your favorite organic towels. Important Notice: Since we use natural looming techniques, some loops in the terry may get skipped or there may be extra threads in places. This is entirely normal and expected. If you come across loose threads, simply snip them off with sharp scissors close to the base. The toweling won't run. We thank you for your understanding; we try our best to maintain the integrity of heritage weaving, knitting, and looping practices, which may not yield as uniform a result as conventional, chemically-treated towels. » Long text version of description
A truly special offer, our Luxury European Hemp Towels — available only at Rawganique.com — will amaze you with their plush thirstiness and designer elegance. Get ready to luxuriate in the coziness... Made from organically grown European hemp (65%) for thickness, absorbency, & durability and organic cotton (35%) for softness and comfort, these are the purest and most beautiful organic hemp towels money can buy, period. Proprietary looping technique results in a uniform plushness that really soaks up water and moisture. Hemp and flax linen terry towels have a long and revered history in the sauna culture of northern Europe, and rightly so. Our hemp and linen pile towels give the same massaging action during a rubdown as the Swedish sauna/massage towels. They get softer with each wash and will outlast cotton towels by a good margin. Our European Hemp Terry Towels are extra hefty and will invigorate tired skin back to life after a long day at work or in the sauna, in contrast to our 100% organic cotton towels, which are softer, plusher, more pampering, and not as vigorous as our hemp towels in their massaging action. Sustainable and luxurious, our Euro-Luxury Hemp Towels feature the highest possible percentage of hemp content in a terry towel. Hemp fiber can absorb 150% of its weight in water (as opposed to cotton, which can absorb about 100% their weight) so our organic hemp towels are as absorbent as they come; they are hefty and substantial in feel, thanks to the hemp fiber's naturally insulating hollow core and thicker yarn (the hemp bath towels weigh in at 620 grams per square meter). They will get even softer with use. We offer our European Hemp Terry Bath Towels in the Ecu Natural Color, which is a light cream color. Absolutely no bleaches or dyes ever came near our organic hemp terry towels. Our European hemp pile bath towels are similar to the extremely rare, expensive (at least twice the price of ours at last check), and much sought-after Irish Linen Loop Friction Health Towels that are revered in Ireland, England, and beyond with the added benefit that our linen pile towels are certified organic and much softer than the traditional Irish linen towels. We have transferred the age-old qualities and craftsmanship of Irish linen to our all-organic, highly absorbent European hemp towels, making them ideal for the purist who will not settle for anything less than absolute purity and environmental sustainability in everyday living. Our European hemp towels are made to exacting standards with great care and attention to detail; they are simply & elegantly finished to achieve the timeless look and feel that have become the trademarks of Rawganique.com's luxury bed and bath collection. We start with the natural golden ecru color of hemp, and set this very warm and mellow mixture in the loom against the backdrop of the creamy color of organic cotton to bring you truly pure and cozy towels that are beautiful to look at and a joy to use, time and again. We then wash and tumble the fabric to pre-shrink the plush terry, soften the naturally robust fibers, and maximize the absorbency of the resulting organic towels. We love the feel of our European hemp terry fabric so much, in fact, that we are also turning it into matching bath mats, bath mitts, hemp bathrobes, hemp & linen kitchen towels, and hemp blankets (really warm and cozy—our warmest hemp blankets yet) too. Our discerning customers will appreciate that our absorbent and pure hemp & linen towels feature certified organic cotton backing (which accounts for the 35% in the blend) — not conventional (probably genetically modified at that) cotton like the couple of other hemp towels on the market). Designed with love and manufactured with care, our Luxury Organic Cotton & Hemp Towels will pamper you and your loved ones for years to come, shower after shower. No bleach, dye, or chemical ever came near our pure hemp towels, which are organic from start to finish(we didn't overlook any detail—major or minor, a fact that goes a long way towards making our organic hemp towels superior in quality and craftsmanship). Our European hemp towels are made in an exclusive facility that manufactures only certified organic products (unlike many other so-called "organic towels" that are made in the same factory—using the same machines—as conventional cotton products). This extra precaution, which is part and parcel of our no-nonsense commitment to you, our workers, and our fragile planet, ensures that our towels are as pure as can be and that its manufacturing process leaves as light a footprint as possible on this fragile planet of ours. Hemp bath sheet doubles up as a beach blanket and fireside throw (fuzzy and warm — especially after a few washings!) as well, even though we will now be offering a true throw size blanket in the same lush hemp terry (50"x76"). Don't forget to check out our matching Luxury Hemp Bathrobes and Organic Cotton Bathrobes. Bath Mitt (6"x9") is shown further below in the Organic Linen Terry fabric. A bit of history: Because of its strength, softness, warmth, and long-lasting qualities, hemp continued to be the second most-used natural fiber until 1930s...After the 1937 Marijuana Tax law (which effectively banned/outlawed hemp cultivation in the US), new DuPont "plastic fibers," under license since 1936 from the German company I.G. Farben (patent surrenders were part of Germany's WWI reparation payments to America), replaced natural hempen fibers. (Some 30% of I.G. Farben, under Hitler, was owned and financed by America's DuPont.) DuPont also introduced Nylon (invented in 1935) to the market after they 'd patented it in 1938...Finally, it must be noted that approximately 50% of all chemicals used in American agriculture today are used in conventional cotton growing, whereas hemp needs no chemicals and has few weed or insect enemies. — from The Emperor Wears No Clothes by Jack Herer. Ours are the most natural towels money can buy! Sunshine Au Naturel at the Atelier El Soleil ** Organic Texas ** Organic French linen towels ** organic irish linen towels from organic european flax Note on hemp terry: Since we don't use chemicals and acids to stabilize our yarns, preferring instead to be as pure and natural as possible, there may be skipped loops in the hemp terry fabric. We do what we can short of using chemicals, but baste fibers like linen and hemp are next to impossible to homogenize without chemicals and acids. It's all part of the charms of hemp and linen products. If you are particular about perfectly looped towels, then please consider our organic cotton towels instead. |
