Current Events:

Be sure to check out Alternet.org's article "Leave No NASCAR Dad Behind". Also, if you haven't seen it, Michael Moore's Oscar-winning anti-violence documentary Bowling for Columbine is great, so are his best-selling books Stupid White Men and Dude, Where's My Country? All are powered by Michael Moore's great sense of humor yet never skirt the difficult issues and questions that have to be asked. Judging from the box office of the film and sales of the books, many around the world think so too. The assault on the environment, human rights, and freedom have got to be stopped before it's too late. The good thing is we can do something about it (go out and make your voice heard: vote for the kind of world you want yourself and your family to live in!). Here's to true freedom of choice, liberty, peace, sustainability, and happiness for all.

Here are a few political news sources that aren't afraid to probe and ask difficult questions:

Progressive Hope  (editorial by Joel Bleifuss from In These Times):
Hope requires that one believe in a better future. In the realm of politics, hope is the necessary precursor to action. We hope for a more peaceful world, that our government will begin to put human needs before corporate profits, that one day “liberty and justice” will be for all...

"Nothing will benefit human health or increase the chances for survival of life on earth as the evolution to a vegetarian diet."
--- Albert Einstein

We're at a very exciting crossroads when it comes to health and ahimsa awareness. The raw vegan community has finally picked up momentum and speed (it's about time!) and there are so many wonderful resources on the internet for raw food novices and pros alike. This is far from the case when Touch became a raw foodist 10 years ago.

The raw food movement has had many stops and starts and numerous sporadic re-incarnations in the past 2 millennia, beginning with the ancient Greeks, many of whose outstanding thinkers were raw vegans; following which brief period of light, raw veganism seemed to have suffered a permanent dimming, that is, until the illustrious Luigi Cornaro came along in the 15th century and proved that restraint is a virtue almost as commendable as raw veganism. Since that time, many innovators--among them Graham, Trall, Tilden, Mcfadden, Wigmore, Shelton, and Fry--have picked up the thread and woven into the fabric of raw tradition their new-found thinking, experiences and inspiration. They were teachers and healers of the highest order who taught and healed through love and kindness.

But at no time in history has raw vegan and ahimsa awareness been as high as today! We are truly living in the Golden Age. There are so many articulate, inspiring, living, and practicing raw foodists out there, among them Joe Alexander (the original inspiration for Touch), Viktoras Kulvinskas, Michael McCarthy, Rhio, Jeff Rogers, and so many others too numerous to mention.

Isn't it great to be alive? Today! And to be raw. And vegan. Let's celebrate our uniqueness and shout the rawsome words from the rooftops. Let's aim for complete harmony with nature. Let's bring Nature into our lives by supporting all things organic, by shunning chemicals and pesticides, by growing our own food, by wearing clothes that are mindfully manufactured with low-impact materials and by sleeping on beds that are made without contaminating our sky, our oceans and our underground water system! Let's make things right for a better tomorrow for all.

Good health and good karma to you!

There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so SICK AT HEART, that you can't take part; and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus and you've got to make it stop.
--Mario Savio

The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them.
