Waists as measured on jeans are slightly bigger than those measured on a person to allow room for underwear and shrinkage, etc... *We have allowed for shrinkage in the inseam measurements already. For example, jeans with 30" inseam will arrive with 31.5" inseam to allow for 5% shrinkage in the length. If you need to hem up your jeans, please wash them a couple of times to allow for shrinkage before making alterations.

» Note on sizing:

Mainstream clothing manufacturers allow 2" between the skin and the pants, so when their label says 32" inches, the waist opening is actually 34". The waist sizes of our jeans are exactly as stated, and most customers have found that going to the next waist size gives a good comfortable fit. If your waist is 32", then you may wish to go to size 34".

Care:

Your new hemp jeans will shrink a little in the width and about 5% in the length in the first couple of washings (we've allowed an extra 1.5" in the inseam for shrinkage in our design). If you need to hem up your new jeans to length, please do so only after washing them a couple of times to allow the fabric to settle. Your jeans will stretch a little too as you wear them, just like regular jeans would. Please remember to wash your jeans in warm water with like colors using only a mild biodegradable detergent. Hang to dry (or machine dry at low temperature: remove promptly just before they are dry). Hemp Jeans may be ironed inside out at the highest/linen setting.
