Chambray is a weaving technique in which the waft and the weft are made from yarns of different colors, resulting in a gently graded melange with a lot of depth and uniqueness. The breathable fabric is silky soft and benefits from the softness of the cotton fiber and the durability and insulated hollow cores of the hemp fiber. Plus, our organic cotton & hemp chambray sheets are more economical than our organic linen or hemp sheets.

Much of the price of our hemp chambray sheets goes towards high-quality organic raw materials and sweatshop-free labor, which in our opinion is as it should be.

Chambray is a weaving technique that uses one fiber for the weft and another fiber (or color) for the waft. The result is a pleasing graded effect with a subtle smooth color. This technique also allows us to combine the best that organic cotton and hemp fibers have to offer.

We offer our luscious organic cotton & hemp chambray bed linens in three versatile colors:

  Natural color of organic cotton & hemp yarns. For the current production, the color is a very light Ivory.

  Sage and Ivory threads make this a soft green with great depth.

  Earth Brown and Ivory threads make this a gentle brown of the earth.

Our organic cotton & hemp chambray sheets are rare and unique; the chambray construction makes for a wonderfully soft and durable fabric. By mixing two colored yarns, we achieve a softly graded color with a lot of depth and breathing room. If you've never seen or touched hemp or linen sheets before, then we recommend buying a pillowcase to use for a while. You'll then have a good idea what it's like. We have been selling hemp linens since 2000.

Hemp and linen sheets are not measured by thread count and so there is no direct way to compare hemp sheets to the thread count of organic cotton sheets. Instead, hemp is measured by fabric weight and our exclusive, specially-woven organic hemp sheets weigh in at a very fine 5.5 oz / sq. yard by linen standards.

Ironed crisp, like heritage linens. We do not chemically soften our organic hemp linens, preferring instead to let laundering and regular use do the work of transforming them to a brushed & highly treasured coziness the time-honored way. Your hemp chambray sheets will soften dramatically over the first few washings and will get even softer with each use.

Please wash your organic cotton & hemp chambray sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers in cold or warm water (not hot) with like colors using a mild, biodegradable for best results. Front loading washing machines are best, as they are gentler on the clothes and also lighter on the planet (front loading machines use way less water and require less detergent than top loading ones). Your organic cotton & hemp chambray sheets will also last a lot longer with front loading machines than top loading machines. This recommendation goes for all the organic cotton, hemp, and linen clothing & home products we sell.

Do not use bleach or fabric softeners. Hang to dry. Many customers have reported good results with machine drying, as long as the heat is kept very low and the hemp linens are removed just before they are completely dry, but we do not officially recommend it. Your organic cotton & hemp chambray sheets may be ironed at the highest linen setting for the traditional crisp linen look if desired.
